The Sea Of Sameness

Travel across America what do you see?

Cut and paste capitalism. Purely profit driven. Maximum profit, minimum creativity. “Starbucksification” as Tom Hodgkinson puts it in How to be Free

Thinking you have selection makes you feel powerful and free.

Is thinking you need wide selection in order to feel powerful and free a sign you don’t feel powerful and free in the first place?

“Fashion is an attempt to decorate our own inauthentic lives.” – Michael Tsarion.

You want to be different in appearance, stand out from the crowd. Why the need to be noticed? To what end? I want you to see me, accept me. I want to be noticed but left alone. I’m over here, but don’t ask me to be responsible for anything.
Do we just want to be acknowledged? Justify my existence?

Acknowledge yourself.

Starbucks was losing money. They shut down stores for a few days for training. Problem? Quality suffering, customers unhappy, profits falling. Why was quality suffering?

People wanted it faster, Starbucks was trying to deliver. Quality suffered. Anytime you speed things up you get hurried and give less of yourself to the task at hand. You dilute purity/potency in an effort to sell more stuff. If you want it faster, you get hooked on faster. It takes more to stimulate you. You feel empty. Search outside for remedy.

When we hear a news story about a police officer on a killing spree in CA, how do we know it’s true? We really don’t. We assume it’s true because, well, it’s on TV. We assume it’s true because everyone seems to be talking about it.

I’m challenging you to ask yourself why we feel the need to be concerned with an alleged crime in a state we don’t even live in. Unless I live in the community where the alleged killer is loose, it’s none of my business. And if you’re not in the state it’s happening in or a surrounding state it’s none of your business either.

All these news stories do is keep people in fear and spark gun control debate. These stories are being used as political tools of control and manipulation. Stop being misled and emotionally manipulated. Wake up America. Pay attention and I don’t mean to mainstream media. Put down the iphone, read a book, and look people in the eye when you talk to them.

Getting rid of debt isn’t the only thing we can shed to live happier, simpler lives. We can get rid of some old ideas as well.

I was recently a caller on an online radio show called Ms. Cyndi. Click the play button above to listen in on some of that conversation. It speaks to how we label each other and how destructive it can be. The conversation also covers solutions.

We use a lot of labels to categorize people, places, and things. One of the most troubling labels we use is skin color. It causes division, friction, and a lot of heartache in our world. The cause of defining people by skin color is simple: Ignorance.

We can end racism now. We have to stop thinking we are the color of our skin. That goes for the oppressor and the oppressed. Finger pointing perpetuates the problem. God is no respector of color and isn’t narrow minded. We shouldn’t be either.

You are so much more than what shows up on the outside. You have power beyond measure. Everything we use as a label hides the true light that is within us waiting to shine out into the world.
