Jim Rohn once asked a simple question:
If you shared your current financial pIan with me would you be so excited about it you’d want me to go around the country and share it with everyone I met?

Whose plan did you buy?
Is it working?
If not, why?

“Emergencies”
Do you borrow on credit cards to handle them?

The map is not the territory.
Your financial plan (or map) is a guide. It’s not your life.

Trying too hard can make you miserable.

coaching puzzle
This is your opportunity to experience financial wellness coaching with Debt Shepherd. And we’re doing it before the holiday season of spending temptation gets here.

Free Coaching is available to one listener. Your opportunity is open for two weeks.

Here’s how it works:

1) Tell me your story:
Between now Fri Nov 11/8/2013 and Mon. 11/25/2013. I’ll pick the best submitted story. Please limit it to one page if you can. Use the “Your Story” tab at the top of this page, leave a voicemail by clicking the red voicemail tab on the right of this page, or send an email (top right of this page).

2) Free coaching:
Offered to the listener whose story is picked. We’ll do an hour or two of coaching by phone to get you started on solving your most pressing financial problem.

3) Interview before coaching:
We’ll do an interview for the podcast before you start your 30 day journey to financial wellness. During the 30 days, you’ll have unlimited access to me by email. You’ll also have access to me by phone during specified time frames.

4) Interview after coaching (30 days):
After a month of implementing change in your money life, we’ll spend time again and record the conversation for the podcast. Our listeners will get to hear how it started for you, what you did to kick start changing and where you’re headed.

Love & Money

Love & Money
Are they friends or enemies?
Do they work together or fight?
Are they kindred spirits or total opposites?

Love = energy, attention/intention
Money = energy, attention/intention

How much time do you spend pursuing money?
Thinking about it? Using it? Dreaming about it?

How much time do you spend pursuing love?
Thinking about it? Dreaming about it?

Options:
Less money, more time.
More love, less anger.

mountain

How do you:
Eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
Move a mountain? One truck load of dirt at a time.
How do you speak? One word at at time. Try speaking two words at the same time. Not happening.
How do we breathe? One breath at a time. Try taking two breaths at the same time. Impossible.

Paying off Debt:
Start with the smallest balance first.
Sometimes we start w/biggest first, not this time. Why?

We’re addicted to big, fast, sweeping change. The illusion of it.
Slow, steady, consistency is what wins the day.

Why do we have to always wait to get paid?
Your employer is getting the benefit of your labor the second you perform the work. Why wait two weeks to get paid?

Why is the model: Work now, get the reward later?
Sacrifice for 30 yrs. then get the reward (401k, paid off home).

Who invented the 40 hr. work week anyway?
Who invented the 30 yr. mortgage anyway?
Who invented the 401k anyway?

Possibilities:
What if you got paid the second you did the work? Immediate exchange of energy.

What if you only had to work 20 hrs. a week? And got the same benefit of lifestyle.

What if you only had to pay 10 yrs. (or less) to own your home?
How about 5 yrs. or less?

What if a 401k wasn’t necessary? No need to earn “interest” to grow your savings.

Why are we so obsessed with ownership?
What about own nothing, control everything?
Or own nothing, have access to everything?

Ultimate Question:
What if you didn’t have to work for money? What if you didn’t have to work to get the things you need (food, clothing, shelter)? Why do we have to “work” for these things?

chalice

PODCAST AUDIO – click to listen

Definition:
Chalice – Vessel or cup. Container for liquid.

Famous example:
Holy Grail – Tradition says Jesus used the cup at the Last Supper to institute Mass. Other stories claim that Joseph of Arimathea used the cup to collect and store the blood of Christ at the Crucifixion.

What does a cup do?
What is it’s purpose?
What’s most important? Cup or contents?
Half empty, half full? Does it quench my thirst?

Drink from your own chalice analogy:
Drink from your own cup
Draw from your own wisdom
Dip your bucket into your own well
You are the source of your abundance
You are the source of your wisdom

And so it is with money and borrowing it:
Stop looking outside yourself for your abundance
