credit score

PODCAST AUDIO – click to listen

In this 111th episode I talk to Oscar Smith about the ugly math of credit scores.

Questions:
Who’s responsible for what’s on your credit report?
Is using credit reports to screen job applicants considered discriminatory?
What factors are used to determine your credit score?

The bottom line is credit reports aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. The better your scores, the better price you get when borrowing money and paying rates of, for instance, car insurance.

Your credit score is not who you are as a person. All a high credit score means is this:
You’re good at going into debt and good at paying interest to the bank. Is that something to be proud of? You decide.

I normally talk about financial health. This is about physical health.

How regular are you? What I mean is how often do you take a crap every day? Hmmm…. kinda personal isn’t it? Yes it is. And it’s kinda important too. So important in fact that I’m willing to risk offending you. And there’s a good chance if the question bothers you, you’re probably not regular.

Dr. Schulze is one of the foremost authorities on Natural Healing and Herbal Medicines in the world. In his early years of medical training he traveled the world and studied how people poop.

He reminds us we should be having 2 to 3 bowel movements a day. And he goes so far as to say if you’re spending more than 2 minutes on the toilet, you’re constipated. Stop reading books and newspapers in there folks. I spend as little time on the can as possible. Not a place I care to hang around. Come on. It’s a waste dumping station, remember? It’s not a library.

I hate to say it America but you’re backed up. You heard me. You’re constipated. If you’re eating 3 meals a day, that’s 21 meals a week. And you’re having a bowel movement once every 3 days? Oh, I’m sorry. You said you’re having a bowel movement once a week?

You’re behind. No pun intended. You’ve got some catching up to do in the doo doo department. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to about this subject who think one bowel movement every 3 to 7 days is normal! Been that way their whole life. If that’s the case you’re colon is asleep and you need to wake it up.

Approximately 1 million people die each year in America from heart disease. And another 1 million die each year of cancer. Two of those statistics were my parents. Both died of cancer 13 months apart.

These 2 million deaths are largely attributed to diet and can be prevented. We are literally digging our own graves with our forks people. The best way to change your life in every area is to change what you eat.

X-mas time 2012 I stopped eating meat. For 30 days I quit meat, dairy, and bread cold turkey. What happened? I had to re-size my wedding ring from a 10 to a 9. I had to have two links taken out of my watch. I’ve now been meat free for nearly 5 months. I do eat bread and cheese occasionally but I don’t got out of my way to do it. The first time I went meatless was in 2006 for 11 months.

I drink as much distilled water each day as I can remember to. 1 gallon a day is optimal. 1/2 a gallon is easier. It’s the purest water on the planet. Our bodies are largely water. Give them what they need to cleanse, detoxify, and flush out all the poison we’ve been putting into them all our lives.

Nothing quite as personal as what you eat each day. It’s the fuel that keeps you alive. Change what you eat and your life will do nothing but get better. So to go #2 I recommend you take #1. Dr. Schulze’s Intestinal Formula #1. Totally herbal, non-addictive. Less than $25 a bottle. Take them daily. They’re like weight lifting for your colon. They wake your colon up so it can do the work it’s meant to do. Move waste out of your body.

Stop spending your hard earned money on fad diets. They’re designed so you’ll fail. Temporary weight loss followed by more weight gain. If fad diets worked people wouldn’t keep going back for more would they? They’re designed to fail so you become a repeat customer. Corporate greed based on gluttony.

This isn’t meant to be medical advice. If you want that, talk to a doctor. Take charge of your own health. Stop trying to buy it and outsource it to “experts.” Become the one and only expert on you!

Term life insurance vs whole life (cash value).
What’s the difference and why you should know.

Upon your death someone will be left to continue without the annual income you provided. Have you put an insurance policy in place to replace your annual income for at least 10 yrs. after your death?

I have. Term life insurance has monthly premiums more affordable than a cash value policy. In this episode I explain why term life is a better value than whole life. I borrow from none other than Dave Ramsey.

Title pawn loans, pay day loans, rent-to-own. They all practice what’s called Ugly Math. You pay ridiculously high fees and rates of interest.

In this episode I sit down with Oscar Smith and we discuss what ugly math is, how to avoid it, and why it’s important. Oscar and I are working to make ugly math a weekly episode.

How much time do you spend thinking about money? More than you’re probably aware. Try to go a day without saying any words about money.

The thoughts you think about money are the thoughts you think about energy, life, and God. You are literally shaping your universe by how you think.

Think poor? Live poor. Think abundant? Live abundant.

Before you pay retail on your next purchase think about finding the item used. There are lots of folks out there who have slightly used items for sale that would love to help you out. Craigslist is a great place to start. There’s also yard and garage sales.

You accomplish a few things buying used:

1) Help environment by not creating a demand for new products.
2) Help the seller get money they need and create more space.
3) Keep money and resources in your local community.
4) You save money.

Before you buy used another thing to consider is, “Can I make it myself?” You can usually accomplish quite a bit with a few simple tools. Don’t go nuts and buy a bunch of power tools. Ask family/friends to borrow if needed. Most hardware stores will cut your lumber for you. Just make sure you have all your measurements with you when you go this route.

Think about what services you can trade/barter for what you need. It’s the way they used to do it in the old days. Get used to it because you’re going to need these skills in the very near future.
